Tragedy as person dies on train tracks near York Road bridge in Leeds
A person has sadly died following an incident on train tracks[1] in Leeds[2] this afternoon. British Transport Police[3] were called to the line near Cross Gates railway station just after 12pm today (January 17) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. A person, who has not been named at this time, sadly died.
The incident brought trains in the area to a standstill and a large emergency service presence was seen in the area while the incident was dealt with. The lines have since reopened. A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line near Cross Gates railway station just after 12pm today (17 January) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
