TRAVEL ALERT – Main road in Coventry closed after serious crash

A MAIN road near Coventry remains shut after a crash last night.

The A45 was closed both ways between the A46 at Tollbar End and the A46 near the Stivichall Interchange.

Due to the serious nature of the incident the road had to be closed throughout the night to allow police investgators to carry out their work. Investigations have now completed and National Highways service providers have arrived at the scene to begin specialist clearance and clear up work. There is currently no estimate for when the road will re-open.

Diversions

Westbound

Road users travelling westbound on the A45 and A46 are advised to follow the solid circle diversion symbol on road signs

If travelling on the A46 westbound exit at the Tollbar End roundabout – take the 4th and if travelling on the A45 westbound take the 3rd exit onto the B4110. Continue on the B4110 for around a mile until the roundabout with the A4082 and take the 2nd exit onto the A4082, towards Warwick. At the next roundabout, with the A444, take the 1st exit onto the A444 south towards Warwick.

Remain on the A444 south until the A45 Stivichall Interhcnage and then re-join the A45.

Eastbound

Road users travelling eastbound on the A45 are advised to follow the solid square diversion symbol on road signs. Exit the A45 and take the 2nd exit onto the A444 towards ‘City Centre’. Continue on the A444 until the roundabout with the A4802/Whitley Interchange and take the 2nd exit to join the A4802, towards Willenhall.

At the next roundabout, with the B4110, take the 4th exit onto the B4110 south, towards Willenhall.

Remain on the B4110 south for approximately a mile to reach Tollbar End roundabout and re-join the A45.

Drivers are being urged to allow more time for their journeys.
