Greenock Sheriff Court (Image: Newsquest) THE trial of a Greenock man who is accused of assaulting a police officer has been pushed back to allow prosecutors time to obtain mobile phone footage relevant to the case. Jonathan Lindsay, 30, is charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and uttering threats and offensive remarks on Lansbury Street on July 12 last year.

It is also alleged that he resisted, obstructed or hindered two police officers in the execution of their duty and twisted the wrist of one constable. He pleaded not guilty to the charges through defence solicitor Aidan Gallagher. Fiscal depute Ashley Pollock told Sheriff Lindsey Kooner that ‘numerous’ attempts have been made to obtain the footage and asked that the case be adjourned until later this year.

Lindsay, of Lansbury Street, will now stand trial on June 13.
