Two-car crash closes Shrewsbury road

West Mercia Police said it happened in Longden Road. In a post on social media at 3.30pm on Wednesday the force told drivers to find alternative routes. A follow up said officers expect the road to be closed for ‘several hours’.

They said: “We are dealing with a two vehicle collision on Longden Road in Shrewsbury. The road is blocked, please find an alternative route.” Local residents have also reported seeing two air ambulances in the area, with one landing on the playing fields at Raby Crescent.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is also at the scene and has sent two crews and an officer to the incident.
