Two dead, three hurt in multi-car crash north of Christchurch
File photo. Photo: WESTPAC RESCUE HELICOPTERS Two people have died and three are injured after a collision between at least two vehicles north of Christchurch this morning. Police have described it as a multi-vehicle crash, which occurred shortly after 10am on Monday on State Highway One, just north of Waikuku.
Two people in one vehicle died at the scene, while a third person was moderately hurt. Two people in the other vehicle were also injured. Three ambulances, two helicopters, a rapid response vehicle attended the crash.
UPDATE 11:05AMThe road is now CLOSED between Wyllies Rd and Broad Rd, due to a serious crash.

“Motorists are asked to avoid the area,” police said.
“Diversions are in place at Wyllies Road and Amesbury Road.”
