Two Liverpool men accused of drugs supply to face trial
Two Liverpool men accused of supplying class A drugs and being in possession of weapons, will face trial later this year. Reece Navarro, aged 24 from St Albans, Liverpool and Leo Smith, aged 20, from Raynham Road, Liverpool, were both arrested following a car stop by police in Clifton Place in Greenbank on November 27 last year. Smith was found in the front passenger seat and a search of the vehicle revealed around GBP4,000 in cash, understood to be wrapped in Christmas[1] wrapping paper.
A search of a nearby address was then carried out and Navarro was found inside the property. Officers conducted a search of Navarro and 51 grams of suspected class A heroin was found in his pocket.
A further search of the property resulted in the seizure of additional suspected Class A drugs and a mobile phone. The pair were also arrested as they were wanted by Merseyside Police for other matters and Smith was also arrested on suspicion of failing to appear at a Liverpool court to face a charge of robbery.
Both men have been jointly charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs and money laundering.
Smith was further charged with possession of a bladed article in public, namely a lock-knife, while Navarro was charged with possession of an offensive weapon – a ‘Predator’-type knife – in a private place.
They both appeared at Plymouth Crown Court yesterday [January 2] and the matter was adjourned for a plea hearing on March 14, with a trial date set for May 13.
