U.S 287 north of Longmont completely shut down following major crash

Two drivers were pronounced dead at the scene following a major crash on U.S.

287 between Longmont and Berthoud. According to Colorado State Patrol Master Trooper Gary Cutler, at 8:42 a.m. there was a two-vehicle head-on collision north of Yellow Stone Road between Longmont and Berthoud. The major crash resulted in the death of a 36-year-old man from Loveland and a 33-year-old man from Longmont.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. All lanes of U.S 287 north reopened at 1:12 p.m., according to Cutler. According to a Mountain View Fire Rescue post on X, crews will be on scene for an extended period of the day.

Highway 287 is completely shut down just north of Yellowstone between Longmont and Berthoud.

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will identify the victims and notify the next of kin.
