Update after ‘stolen car’ crashes into Newton-le-Willows park
The vehicle, a red Honda Jazz, was stolen from Oak Avenue, Newton-le-Willows, on the evening of Saturday, December 23. Shortly afterwards, police in the area on patrol spotted the car and attempted to stop it. The car drove away and later crashed into park railings on Park Road North.

Merseyside Police confirmed a 25-year-old man from Newton-le-Willows has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving in connection with the incident.
When asked for an update, a spokesman confirmed to the Star that the suspect has since been bailed. The scene after the crash (Image: Mike Smith) After the incident, a police spokeswoman said: "Officers are investigating following the theft of a vehicle in Newton-le-Willows on Saturday, December 23.
"Just after 6pm officers received a report that a red Honda Jazz had been stolen on Oak Avenue. "Officers who were on patrol in the area spotted the stolen vehicle at a petrol station and attempted to stop the car. "The driver of the stolen car drove away from police and was later involved in a collision on Park Road North where the car collided into some fencing.
"The driver got out of the car and then went into Mesnes Park." She added: "No one was injured during the incident and officers are appealing for any information that could assist in tracing the suspect.
