Weaving drunk driver says ‘I’m OK’ before failing field sobriety test: North Royalton Police Blotter

NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio

Drunken driving: Sprague Road

On Dec.

23, police observed a weaving Kia Sportage traveling west on Sprague Road and south on State Road.

After making an extremely wide turn onto Tilby Road, during which the Kia went into oncoming traffic, the officer pulled over the vehicle.

While talking to the driver, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, the officer smelled alcohol.

“I’m OK” said the woman, who appeared to be drunk. She also at one point accidentally pushed down the gas pedal, causing the Kia to rev its engine at a high velocity.

After locating her driver’s license, she presented it to the officer, laughed and said, “Merry Christmas.”

The driver denied drinking; however, a field sobriety test suggested otherwise. After failing the test, she was arrested for drunken driving.

The woman was also cited for weaving, driving left of center, no seatbelt and not driving in marked lanes.

Drunken driving: Royalton Road

On Dec.

22, police were dispatched to the police station’s employee entrance regarding a car crash.

An arriving officer talked to a driver, who said he was rear-ended by a black Cadillac CT6 at the Royalton and Bennett roads intersection.

The woman driving the Cadillac told the officer she was out getting her dog’s medication.

While talking to the resident, the officer smelled booze and noticed her slurred speech.

Asked about the odor, the woman admitted to having a glass of wine before leaving her home.

After failing a field sobriety test, during which she swayed and couldn’t walk a straight light, the woman was arrested for drunken driving.

That’s also when she admitted to having two glasses of wine.
