West Mercia Police respond to reports of ‘automatic gunfire’

The sounds were heard in Worcester at about midnight and in Malvern Link at about 2am today (Tuesday, January 10). But police don’t think the noises came from a machine gun, rather a car with a particularly noisy exhaust. A West Mercia Police spokeswoman said: “Overnight on Monday and into the early hours of Tuesday we received a number of reports from members of the public who heard what they thought was automatic gunfire.

“Officers investigated and concluded that the noise was the exhaust of a vehicle.

Enquiries are ongoing to locate the vehicle.”
