Whittlesey teenager stabbed two police officers with broken bottle

Cambridgeshire teenager Daniel Parr stabbed two police officers with a broken glass bottle. The officers had been called to help paramedics dealing with Parr at an address in Mansion Gardens, Whittlesey. Parr, who had been deemed a threat to himself, had hidden a broken glass bottle neck on his person.

When police were speaking to them he pulled out the weapon and stabbed the officers – leaving two puncture wounds on the side of one officer’s face and large lacerations to back of the other’s head and ear. Police called for back-up and Parr was detained following the incident, which took place on February 2 2022. Parr, now 19-years-old and of Mansion Gardens, Whittlesey, initially denied two charges of assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent and faced trial.

However in November last year he pleaded guilty to two counts of GBH without intent which was accepted in court. At Cambridge Crown Court on Monday, January 8, he was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order until he is considered fit to be released. Detective Constable Kevin Poole, of Cambridgeshire[3] Police, said: “As police officers, we come to work knowing that we will often be faced with the unknown and be put in situations that may bring harm.

The injuries that these officers faced whilst they were trying to help someone is horrific and I am glad that everyone has received the help they needed.”
