Wiltshire Police track down more than 20 wanted people

The ‘Wanted this Winter’ campaign aimed to make the public aware of people that were wanted by police, with several appeals shared by the force in December. Wiltshire Police has said that the campaign helped save valuable hours of police time. Members of the public supplied the police with information about the suspects that the force appealed for information about and led to 21 suspects previously at large being tracked down.

The campaign also led to many of the suspects handing themselves in after seeing their image and information about them on social media. Chief Superintendent Phil Staynings said: “The Wanted this Winter campaign has been a great success for the Force with 21 suspects successfully dealt with. “It has once again proven the power the public and social media has to support operational policing and solve crimes.

By working together with the public we can make Wiltshire and Swindon a safer place for all.

“The annual campaign highlights persistent offenders who are wanted for a variety of crimes, from driving offences to burglary, which blight our communities.”
