Woman airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after five-car crash
A woman was airlifted to hospital after a five-car crash. Emergency services were called to Hoole Road in Chester at around 10.50am on Saturday, January 6 to reports of a crash. Police confirmed “a number of people” were taken to hospital following the incident, reports CheshireLive[1].
A 63-year-old woman was taken to Aintree[2] Hospital via air ambulance with “serious injuries”. The road was also closed for six hours as emergency services dealt with the incident. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service sent two engines to the scene.
Two people were found to be “medically trapped” in one of the cars which had smashed through a wall and into a garden. Firefighters removed the roof of the car before the two people were looked over by paramedics. Cheshire Police said five cars were involved in the crash – a blue Kia Venga, a black Mercedes, a black Audi A3, a black BMW X5 and a blue Ford Focus.
A spokesman for the force added: “A number of other people were also taken to hospital. There are no reports of any life-threatening injuries at this time. The road was closed while officers dealt with the incident, the scene was cleared by 4.45pm.
“Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police.” Anyone with information should call the force on 101 quoting IML-1729147.
