Woman dies after van crashes into ditch near Leamington
A WOMAN died after the van she was driving left the road, flipped and ended up in a ditch. Warwickshire Police said the accident happened at about 4.40pm on Tuesday (2nd January) on the A452 Kenilworth Road north of Leamington, not far from the Ramada Hotel. Emergency services including fire and ambulance attended the scene along with police officers but, despite their best efforts, the driver of the driver of the VW caddy – a woman in her 50s – was pronounced dead.
A man, who was a passenger in the van, was uninjured.
The woman’s next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers from the force.
Police said its investigation is continuing and has appealed for anyone who was travelling along the stretch of road who saw the incident, the moments prior to the collision, or the manner in which the VW was being driven to make contact.
