Woman hit by car on Smithdown Road

Emergency services scrambled to a major road after a woman was hit by a car. Merseyside Police[1] received a 999 call at around 4.30pm on Wednesday, January 10, following reports of a crash on Smithdown Road. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a woman was hit by a Vauxhall car at the junction on Hartington Road.

The North West Ambulance Service[2] was called to the scene and the woman was treated in the back of the ambulance. The woman’s injuries have been described as “slight”.

The driver of the Vauxhall stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made.

While emergency services dealt with the incident Smithdown Road was closed in both directions. Arriva North West had to divert a number of services following the incident including the 86 86A, 204 and 699. An update on the social media platform, C, said: “Due to a Police incident on Smithdown Rd, services 86,86A, 204 and 699 are diverted via Princes Ave, Croxteth[5] Rd and Ullet Rd in both directions.
