Woman killed and man critically injured in A19 crash

A woman has died and a man is critically ill in hospital after a crash in North Yorkshire. Emergency services were called to the scene of the two-vehicle collision on the A19 near Easingwold at about 13:45 GMT on Monday, police said. Officers said the vehicles, a Citroen Berlingo van and a Ford C-MAX, had been travelling in opposite directions.

The car driver died at the scene. The male van driver was airlifted to hospital where he remains, police said. North Yorkshire Police said the crash happened near the junction with Forest Lane, which leads to the village of Alne.
