Woman says running is ‘tainted’ by catcalling men

“My view on running is slightly tainted, only from past experiences.”

Lucy Lavington, 18, from Abergavenny in Monmouthshire, said she was running alone when a car pulled up alongside her and the driver started catcalling her.

She aims to run at least 6km (3.7 miles) per day, but feels unsafe during the darker winter months.

She is one of thousands of women across the globe who reported safety concerns while running, according to an international survey by the sports company Adidas[1].
