A road was closed after a crash between a car and bus in Blackburn. (Image: Shad Chefs Fb) A road was closed after a crash involving two cars and a bus in Blackburn[1]. The incident happened this morning (Saturday, January 13) in Accrington Road, Intack, close to St Jude’s Church.

The crash, just after 9am. involved a car, a private hire car and a bus, and the emergency services were on the scene. Police had cordoned off the area for a period as the fire service attempted to rescue the driver of a black Volkswagen Golf that was involved in the crash. Police said two people in the VW Golf were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Due to the severity of the crash, the wheels of the VW Golf had been ripped from the vehicle and the nearside of the car had been smashed. The bus had been heavily damaged on the drivers’s side, while the private hire car, a Toyota Prius which seemed to have been parked up, had also almost lost a tyre.

Emergency teams had spent time attempting to assist the occupants in the VW Golf.

Lancashire Telegraph: Here is an image from Lancashire Police which shows the wrecked VW Golf. Traffic was affected for those heading to and from Accrington[3] and Blackburn.

Police said two men were arrested following the incident after the VW Golf failed to stop when requested by officers.

A police spokesperson said: “We were in pursuit of the VW Golf when it collided with a stationary car and then a bus on Accrington Road, Blackburn at approximately 9.22am today (Saturday).

“Two men in the VW Golf were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and were taken to hospital for treatment for minor injuries.”
