Young child suffers broken leg after early-morning crash outside Middlesbrough primary school

A young child was taken to hospital with a broken leg after a crash outside a Middlesbrough[1] primary school. Emergency services were called to Allendale Road, in Ormesby[2], on Tuesday morning after a black Vauxhall Astra collided with a young child just outside St Gabriel’s Catholic Primary School. The child, whose age has not been released by Cleveland Police[3], was taken to the James Cook University Hospital[4], in Middlesbrough.

The force confirmed that the child suffered a broken leg, but no update on their condition has been confirmed. Police are now appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or who witnessed the incident to come forward. A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “Cleveland Police is appealing for witnesses and information following a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle in Middlesbrough.

The incident occurred on Allendale Road, Ormesby, outside St Gabriel’s Catholic Primary School at around 8.35am on Tuesday 9 th January. “It involved a black Vauxhall Astra and a young child who was taken to James Cook University Hospital with a broken leg. Enquires are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with information or any relevant dash cam to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting reference number 004879.
