Young woman’s arrest as police recover bags of cocaine in A50 stop-check

A woman has been arrested after police discovered bags of cocaine nearby after carrying out a vehicle stop check on the A50. The 26-year-old was detained after officers stopped a car on the A50 near to the junction with the A522 in Uttoxeter. A package containing cocaine was recovered nearby.

Staffordshire Police say they arrested a woman on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs. She has been released on conditional bail while enquires continue following the incident, which took place on Tuesday (January 9). Police say members of one of their major and organised crime proactive teams were working alongside colleagues from tactical support when they carried out the stop check.
