A14 live traffic updates: ‘Severe delays’ after broken down car blocks busy route during roadworks
There were long delays on the A14 on Tuesday (February 13) with traffic at a standstill. It reportedly followed a crash, with a car also breaking down in an area of roadworks.
Traffic information service Inrix said there were “severe delays” westbound on Tuesday night. It reported: “A14 Westbound blocked due to accident from J49 A1308 Tot Hill (Stowmarket) to J47 A1088 (Woolpit). In the roadworks area.
“Severe delays of 16 minutes between A140 Kettle Lane (Needham Market) and J47 A1088 (Woolpit). Average speed 15 mph.”
There were already delays on the A14 due to work taking place both ways from J47/A1088 to J49 for Stowmarket. From 3.15pm on Tuesday the AA said there was “heavy traffic” as a result on the A14 in both directions.
Essex & Suffolk Traffic confirmed there were reports of a broken down vehicle in the roadworks contraflow, with police and recovery vehicles at the scene. It said there were long delays at just before 7pm with queues back to Junction 46 for Thurston.
