Cyclist, 12, suffers broken legs after Norton car crash that sparked air ambulance callout
A boy was taken to hospital with broken legs after his bike collided with a car.
The crash happened in Norton[1] at around 3.30pm on Monday, February 12. Cleveland Police[2] said the 12-year-old boy was riding his bike when he collided with a black Peugeot 208[3] on the A1027 junction with The Glebe.
The youngster was taken to hospital for treatment. A force spokesperson confirmed: "A 12-year-old boy who had been on a pedal cycle suffered serious breaks to both legs and was taken to James Cook University Hospital[4] for treatment."
On Monday, a North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We were called to a road traffic incident on Hanover Parade, Stockton[5], at 3.26pm this afternoon. We have dispatched a double crewed ambulance, clinical team leader and requested support from Great North Air Ambulance.
"One patient has been taken to James Cook Hospital by road, with a doctor on board." The air ambulance reportedly landed in a nearby field.

Police have now launched an appeal asking witnesses to come forward. They are asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting reference number 025950.
