First picture of councillor found dead inside Erdington property as man charged with murder

This is the first picture of a former councillor tragically found dead inside a Birmingham home amid a murder probe. The family of Wallis Webb[1] issued a photo of their loved one alongside a tribute as police charged a man with his murder. The 65-year-old was sadly found deceased at an address in Baldmoor Lake Road, Erdington[2] on Tuesday morning (February 6).

Police said they are doing "all we can" to support the family during "this terrible time." Releasing an image of Mr Webb, who was a Councillor for a short period of time, his family said he "really believed in trying to help others." In a statement released via West Midlands Police[3], they said: "To try to compress a life into short sentences does not do anybody justice. "This is by far the hardest of them all.

Wallis was a Councillor for a short period of time, because he really believed in trying to help others and felt strongly about the hardships people now have to endure without the help so many need. "This is yet another life taken in a shocking and senseless manner." Sakander Hussain, of Ingleton Road, Birmingham, was arrested on Thursday and has now been charged with murder and fraud by false representation. The 25-year-old appeared before Birmingham Magistrates' Court today (Feb 10) where he was remanded until his next court appearance.

A 51-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of fraud, has been bailed with conditions while enquiries continue. West Midlands Police continued: "We're doing all we can to support his family during this terrible time. We remain keen to hear from anyone with information which could help our investigation.
