Head-on crash between van and car on A65 in Rawdon

The collision, which involved a silver Mercedes Vito van and a blue Ford Fiesta, occurred on the A65 in Rawdon last Thursday morning (February 15).

The driver and passenger in the Ford Fiesta were taken to hospital with “significant” yet not life-threatening injuries.

Police also discovered the van had been involved in a crash with a scaffolding wagon immediately prior to the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Police investigating a collision in Rawdon which left two women with serious injuries are appealing for witnesses and any dashcam or CCTV footage.

“Reports were received from 11:58am on Thursday, February 15, of a head-on collision involving a silver Mercedes Vito van and a blue Ford Fiesta on the A65 in Rawdon.  

“It was further established that the van had been in collision with a scaffolding wagon immediately prior to the collision, causing minor damage to the wagon.

“The driver and passenger from the Ford Fiesta were taken to hospital with significant injuries.

“They are not being treated as life-threatening.

“Officers from the Eastern Area Roads Policing Unit would like to speak to anyone who has witnessed any part of this incident. They are also asking anyone who was driving in the area around the time of this collision to check whether they have captured any relevant dashcam footage, and for local residents and businesses to check their CCTV.
