The M20 is closed coast bound following a serious crash and fuel spillage in the early hours of this morning.

200 litres of diesel has spilled onto the carriageway and work is underway to clean up the fuel.

Resurfacing will have to be carried out in lanes one and two, which requires the full closure to remain in place while the work is carried out.

All emergency services including Kent Police were called to the scene of the crash overnight.

Some drivers were caught within the closure for nearly three hours, but traffic has now been released.

National Highways has thanked people for their patience.

A diversion is in place, with drivers being advised to exit the M20 at Junction 10 and follow the A20 coast bound towards Folkestone, before rejoining the motorway at Junction 11.
