M27 closure gridlock shown in aerial images taken by drone
The pictures by UKNIP show queues of traffic on Southampton[1] Road backing up to Segensworth Roundabout due to the closure of the westbound carriageway of the motorway.
As previously reported, the M27 has been closed after a tragic accident[2] yesterday afternoon between junctions seven and junction five.
Several hours after the tragic crash, the lorry caught fire and an overhead gantry was damaged.
The stretch of road between junctions nine and five has now been closed as National Highways carry out emergency roadworks to remove the gantry.
Many commuters though are having to take alternative routes which is causing traffic chaos and delays[3] of up to three hours in some places.
On top of that, Hill Head Road has been shut to traffic as emergency services deal with the aftermath of a large fire at Osborne View Hote[4]l.
