M27 lorry crash and fire as it happened in pictures

At around 12.30pm on Wednesday afternoon – February 21 – a crash involving two cars and a lorry[1] saw the HGV vehicle crash into a gantry, killing the driver inside, who was a man in his 30s.

Following the incident, Hampshire police[2] made three arrests – a 32-year-old man, 37-year-old man, and 40-year-old woman, all of which were taken to hospital following the incident.

Since the collision, the M27 has remained closed while National Highways workers raced against the clock to remove the damaged electronic sign and reopen the road.

It is still unknown how long this will take.
