M50 diversion routes as motorway still closed after serious lorry crash
The M50 in Gloucestershire remains closed eastbound between J2 near Ledbury and J1 near Tewkesbury following a serious collision involving two vehicles. The collision between two lorries happened at just before 11am on Thursday.
The motorway was completely shut following the crash.[1] The westbound carriageway has re-opened; however, lane two remains closed.
Emergency services remain in attendance, as are National Highways Traffic Officers are in attendance, assisting with traffic management. Traffic caught within the closure is in the process of being released via rearward relief.
In a statement just before 5pm West Mercia Police said: “Officers were called to a collision involving two HGV lorries on the M50 on the eastbound carriageway between junctions one and two at around 10.50am today (Thursday 29 February). Emergency services remain at the scene and people are being advised to seek alternative routes.”
Diversion Routes
Road users travelling eastbound are advised to follow the Solid Square diversion symbol on road signs
- Exit the M50 northbound at J2 and turn right onto the A417.
- Continue on the A417 until the roundabout with the A40, take the 1st exit onto the A40.
- Continue on the A40 until the M5 J11 and take the 1st exit onto the M5 northbound.
