M6 crash live as lorry and car collision prompt long rush hour delays

Emergency services are at the scene of a crash between a van and a car on the M6. The collision prompted 45 minute delays for motorists during rush hour – with more than six-miles of tailbacks today.

The incident happened on the M6 Northbound between J8 (M5 Interchange) and J9 A461 Wood Green Road (Wednesbury). Congestion is back to junction 6 (Spaghetti Junction). The Northbound M5 is back to J2 (Oldbury / Dudley).

Two of four lanes have been closed. The ambulance service is at the scene.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, National Highways West Midlands posted: “2 (of) 4 lanes are CLOSED on the #M6[2] northbound between J8 #M5[3] and J9 #Wednesbury[4] due to a collision involving a HGV and a car. Emergency services are on scene. There are currently delays of 45 mins and approx. 6 miles of congestion.”
