Man found dead in Plymouth’s Central Park

Police have confirmed a man has died in a city centre park this morning. The man, said to be aged in his early 50s, was discovered by dog walker shortly after 7.30 am today [Tuesday February 13].

The emergency services were alerted and police and paramedics were called to the scene, understood to be in an area leading towards Pounds Park area of Central Park. A cordon was put in place at a lane which runs through the northern part of the park.

Police have told PlymouthLive the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and no third party was involved. It is believed he is from the Devon area and his next of kin have now been informed.

Det Insp Kev Morley of Plymouth police said: “Police were called at 7.30am on Tuesday February 13, following concerns for the welfare of a man in Central Park, Plymouth.

“The man, in his 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.

“His next of kin have now been informed and are understandably extremely upset at the distressing news. Our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time.”
