Man rushed to hospital following ‘four-vehicle’ smash

Officers say the incident took place at around 3.40pm on Bridge of Weir Road in Johnstone on Monday, February 12.

999 crews raced to the crash and a 77-year-old man was then taken to hospital.

The road was closed for several hours after the accident.

Following it, a 27-year-old man has been reported for alleged road traffic offences.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland[1] said: “Around 3.40pm on Monday, February 12, 2024, we were called to reports of a four-vehicle crash on Bridge of Weir Road, Johnstone.

“Emergency services attended and a 77-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

“The road was closed while recovery was arranged and fully reopened around 8pm.

“A 27-year-old man is subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with road traffic offences.”
