One person dead in Durham shooting on Guess Road

Durham Police are investigating a fatal shooting Saturday afternoon. Police responded to reports of a shooting after 3:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of Horton Road near Guess Road. Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been shot.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“Terrible. I didn’t know that that was even happening and i didn’t know it was actually happening right here, so a little scary,” Barbara Phillips, aftermath witness said. Phillips saw the flashing lights and mobile command unit while walking to dinner in the area.

“It does surprise me. But it doesn’t surprise me that it happens in Durham. It’s everywhere now,” Phillips said.
