Part of U.S. Route 322 closed in Centre County after tanker truck crashes over embankment
An eastbound stretch of U.S. Route 322, between Port Matilda and Philipsburg, was closed Saturday night after a tanker truck crashed over an embankment, according to public emergency services information. The injuries to the driver, who was entrapped, are not yet known.
A hazmat team was dispatched to the 2400 block of Upper Flat Rock Road, according to dispatch reports[1]. Philipsburg’s Hope Fire Co. posted on Facebook about the crash at about 8:45 p.m. and asked motorists to “please avoid the area[2].” As of 11 p.m., the eastbound lanes of the highway remained closed[3] between Black Moshannon Road/Presqueisle Street and Blazosky Road, Shady Dell Drive.
