Person taken to hospital after two car crash on major A road
One person has been taken to hospital after a crash on the A47[1], which left the road blocked for four hours on Friday (February 16). They are not believed to have been seriously injured.
The two-car crash on the A47 Thorney bypass[2] blocked the westbound carriageway, from the Guyhirn roundabout to New Cut in Thorney. Cambridgeshire Police[3] were called at 10.28am, and the road was cleared by 12.30pm.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.31am with reports of a collision on the A47 near Thorney. We sent two ambulances and a MAGPAS vehicle. One person was taken to Peterborough City Hospital[4] for further care.”
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue[7] sent crews from Dogsthorpe and Stanground to the scene. The firefighters helped the ambulance service care for the casualty and make the site safe.
A Cambridgeshire[8] Police spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.28am to reports of collision between two cars on the A47 Thorney bypass. There are not believed to be any serious injuries.”
