Serious damage caused as car ploughs into railings at Catshill War Memorial
A CAR ploughed into the railings at Catshill Memorial last night.
The blue BMW collided with a van and veered off, causing substantial damage to the railings.
West Mercia Police attended the incident which happened just after 9.30pm.

Once the vehicle was removed, the scout leader made the area safe.
Mr Lacey said: “The car literally smashed through the railings and it was a miracle it did not hit the memorial itself. “The railings were damaged beyond repair and will have to be replaced.”

And he called for action to be taken with the island at the junction of Stourbridge Road and Meadow Road.
Picture by Daren Lacey. s “There have been a number of incidents – maybe the island should be raised so drivers have to go around it because currently it is just painted on. “Chevrons could be another option but something needs to happen.”

The RBL now faces an anxious wait to see if the funding for the repairs will be available.
