Woman hit pedestrian car in Newcastle car park incident

At 1.15pm on February 8, police received reports of a disturbance in a car park on Hadrian Road in Wallsend. Emergency services attended the scene where it was reported a group of people had got in an argument. It is reported that someone attempted to intervene when, for reasons currently unclear, they were struck by a car causing a serious leg injury.

The victim was hospitalised but they have now been discharged. The driver of the car left the scene before the police arrived. A 36-year-old woman was later arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

The woman has since been charged with dangerous driving, cause serious injury by dangerous driving, send letter communication causing anxiety/distress, and fail to stop after accident. She appeared before magistrates in Newcastle earlier today (February 10). She was remanded in custody ahead of her next appearance scheduled for a later date.

“Members of the public are advised to avoid any speculation at this time – both out in the community and online – that could jeopardise the live legal proceedings.
