Yeovil man fighting for his life after serious crash
A man from Yeovil has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition after a serious crash. The collision, which involved a blue Mini Cooper and a blue Volvo articulated lorry took place on the A30 at Babylon Hill, just across the border in Dorset, shortly after 4pm on Tuesday, February 20.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the Mini driver, aged in his 20s, was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with injuries believed to be life threatening. His family have been informed, Dorset Police said. The lorry driver was uninjured in the collision.
Road closures were in place around the crash site while emergency services responded to the incident and a crash investigation was carried out. These were lifted at around 11.20pm. Dorset Police have launched an appeal for any eye witnesses to get in contact.
Sergeant Mark Scammell, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I am appealing to any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please contact us. I would also like to hear from any motorists who may have captured any relevant dashcam footage.
“Finally, I appreciate this incident led to the closure of a main road for a period of several hours and I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while this was in place. The closure was necessary to allow emergency services to safely respond and for a detailed examination of the collision scene to be carried out.”
