12-year-old seriously injured in South West tanker crash
A 12-year-old was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in the South West on Saturday.Emergency services were called to the crash which involved a tanker and a car in Wiltshire at 12.30pm
The collision involved a Wincanton tractor unit towing a tanker and a silver car. Fire crews from Marlborough, Calne and Westlea in Swindon attended the scene.
The 12-year-old, who was a passenger in the car, was airlifted by Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. They were rushed to Bristol Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called to a collision on the A346 at Cadley at 12.25 pm today. A lorry and a car were involved in a collision. A 12-year-old passenger in the car was taken to Bristol Children’s Hospital with serious injuries. The road remains closed whilst the incident is cleared.”
In a statement, a Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The driver of the car and the lorry were both out of their vehicles before the arrival of the fire service, but one person was still in the car. Fire crews released the casualty and they were transferred to the hospital by air ambulance. The road was closed in both directions.”
