A1 Colsterworth live updates as serious lorry crash blocks road

Motorists face long delays on the A1 this morning (Monday, March 18) due to a crash involving two lorries. The road is closed in both directions near Colsterworth after reports a lorry has gone through the central reservation.

National Highways said emergency services were called to the scene at around 7.15am. Traffic officers were also en route to the scene, it added.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, National Highways East Midlands said: “Traffic is stopped on the #A1[1] in both directions within the #A151[2] junction at #Colsterworth[3] due to a collision involving 2 lorries.

“Emergency services are on scene and Traffic officers are en route. There are approx. 4 miles congestion southbound and 2.5 miles northbound.”

Traffic monitoring system Inrix reports the road is closed from the junction with the A151 for Colsterworth Services to Broadgate Road South Witham / Thistleton Turn Off, South Witham. It said: “A lorry has gone through the central barrier resulting in the road having to be closed in both directions.”
