Two female passengers who were travelling in the car have been taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.

A 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains in custody.

Officers remain at the scene and the road is closed in both directions between Badlesmere and Sheldwich.

Stagecoach posted on X, formerly Twitter, to say its 666 route to Faversham had been disrupted as a result.

It said: “Due to an RTC on the A251 the road has been closed between Badlesmere and Sheldwich.

“As a result the 666 service will divert to Canterbury from Challock to allow connection with the 3 & 3x services.

“Once the road has reopened normal line will resume.”
