A5 tragedy as two young men die in Audi S4 crash with lorry
Two young men were killed after a crash on a major Midlands route. Police said two young men, who have not been identified, died following a crash on the A5 on Tuesday night, March 26.
Leicestershire Police have said that the two men, aged in their 20s, lost their lives in the collision after a car crashed into a parked lorry. Officers were called to a stretch of the A5 Watling Street close to the junction with the B4114 at 8.20pm following a report that a grey Audi S4 had crashed with a lorry which was parked in a layby.
Sadly the two men in the Audi were pronounced dead at the scene. The route, which cuts through Warwickshire[1] and Leicestershire, was closed for hours as emergency crews dealt with the incident into Wednesday morning.

A number of roads around the incident were also shut off as 999 crews responded to the incident. Officers say the driver of the lorry was not injured.
Now detectives are trying to piece together the moments before the collision and have urged anyone with any information to come forward. Detective Constable Maddie Hayes, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: “Our investigation into this collision is continuing and I’m appealing for anyone who can help to get in touch.
“I’m particularly keen to speak to any motorists who were in the area and have a dashcam in their vehicle or who saw the collision occur. I’d also like to speak to anyone who saw the Audi on the A5 prior to it happening.
“Anything you can tell us, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could assist us.” Details can be passed on by visiting online here[4] quoting incident 638 of March 26.
