Audi driver dies on M62 after driving wrong way and hitting HGV

An Audi driver died on the M62 after driving the wrong way and hitting an HGV. The smash happened in the early hours of Saturday (March 9) near junction 29 on the eastbound stretch of the motorway.

Police said that at around 3am, a white Audi A3 travelled against the flow of traffic, before hitting a Renault HGV. Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and have appealed for information.

Emergency services rushed to the scene near Lofthouse, but the male driver of the Audi was confirmed dead at the scene. The Major Collision Enquiry Team is carrying out an investigation into the horror crash.

West Yorkshire Police want anyone who witnessed the early morning crash or saw 'the manner in which the Audi was being driven'.
