Bury: Lorry driver arrested for suspected cocaine use

The driver was stopped by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) traffic officers after reportedly spotted driving erratically on the M60 near Simister island (J18). 

Officers say the driver was seen crossing solid white lines on the motorway and narrowly avoided hitting another vehicle.

The driver was ordered to stop at Birch Services on the M62 where they reportedly tested positive for cocaine following a roadside test.

They were then arrested and remain in custody. 

A spokesperson for GMP Traffic Police said: "Observed the driver of the HGV crossing the solid white lines M60 J18 narrowly avoiding another car.

"Stopped at Birch Services, the driver was subject to a roadside drugs test. Result = positive for cocaine!

"Driver arrested and now in custody at Bury."
