Devon traffic latest as flooding and crashes close key routes

Motorists face disruption on three Devon roads this evening (Friday, March 29) due to separate incidents. A riverside road near Exeter has been shut due to flooding, while crashes have blocked two busy routes elsewhere.

According to traffic[1] -monitoring service Inrix, the B3183 New North Road in Exeter is blocked in both directions “due to an accident at Longbrook Street”. It was first logged at 7pm and is still understood to be causing delays.

Devon County Council’s highways team has also posted on X (formerly Twitter) advising that the A3079 near Yelland and the junction to the A386 is “temporarily closed due to an RTC and clear up operations”. It reported the collision just after 8pm.

It also confirmed that the road at Paddleford Bridge is closed due to a flood, adding: “Please find an alternative route.” A flood warning was issued for part of Devon yesterday[4] following heavy rainfall.
