Jail for thug who attacked trucker

Joshua Bojko, 32, launched his senseless attack after his car was involved in a collision with the victim’s HGV on 22 January 2022.

The lorry driver was travelling along the A608 Old Derby Road near Nottingham when he stopped after Bojko performed a three point turn in his Audi.

Bojko shouted abuse before a minor collision occurred when his car rolled back into the lorry.

When the victim climbed out of his cab to check for damage, Bojko punched him in the face.

He was knocked to the floor by the blow and members of the public found him lying in the road with serious facial injuries.

It was later discovered the victim had suffered fractures to both sides of his jaw, his nose and eye socket.

Police traced the thug after trawling through ANPR camera footage and he was later arrested, charged and pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.

Derbyshire-based Bojko was jailed for 12 months when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on 11 March.

PC Brendan Farrell of Nottinghamshire police said: “The level of violence displayed by Bojko that day unfortunately reflects how road rage incidents can often escalate.

“The victim was left with extremely painful facial injuries and required surgery in hospital.

“Victims of violent incidents like this can also be affected emotionally by the ordeal they have been put through. This is why we do everything we can to bring perpetrators to justice while supporting victims and keeping them updated at every stage.

“This was a completely unwarranted and unprovoked attack on a man who was simply doing his job as a lorry driver at the time he was assaulted,” he added.

“We’re pleased to see that Bojko has now been punished for his actions in the form of a custodial sentence.

“The victim was made aware of the outcome by me and I hope he is comforted by our response and the sentence handed down.”
