Live A1 traffic updates today as crash in Lincolnshire leaves road closed

The A1 is closed in both directions following a crash in Lincolnshire today (Monday, March 18). The crash has taken place at the A151 Colsterworth Services junction and two lorries are reported to be involved.

Emergency services are at the scene. The closure was first reported at around 6.45am and diversion routes are in place for both the northbound and southbound carriageways

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “Both carriageways of the A1 at Colsterworth will remain closed for several hours while recovery and repair work takes place. Thankfully no serious injuries have been reported following a collision involving two HGVs just before 6.45am today.”

A National Highways spokesperson said: “The A1 in Lincolnshire is closed in both directions between the A607 (Harlaxton) and A606 (Stamford) due to a collision involving at least 2 lorries. Emergency services including Lincolnshire Police are in attendance.

“One lorry has overturned and has come to rest on its side on both sides of the carriageway. The other lorry has left the road and is down the verge at the side of the carriageway. The road is expected to remain closed for several hours whilst the vehicles are recovered.”

Inrix, the traffic data company, said: “A1 Great North Road Southbound closed, long delays due to accident, a lorry involved from B6403 (Woolsthorpe / Easton Turn Off, Easton) to A151 (Colsterworth Services Junction, Colsterworth). Northbound is also closed between Stamford and Colsterworth.”
