Live: Huge M6 delays in Cheshire as truck smashes into bridge

Motorists are facing long delays on the M6 this morning after a lorry hit a bridge. And National Highways are warning of delays of around an hour following the collision on the southbound carriageway.

It has resulted in three out of the four lanes being shut off between Junction 17 and Junction 16. Live traffic cameras are showing gridlock in the area.

Meanwhile National Highways has told drivers that ‘initial assessments’ are being carried out at the scene while recovery is being arranged. A live travel map from National Highways is showing traffic is going all the way back to Junction 18 – and isn’t moving.

We will provide updates on this ongoing incident in our dedicated blog below.
