Live: Major Somerset A-road blocked as lorry flips onto side

A main road through Somerset is blocked in both directions this afternoon (Friday, March 15) after a lorry has flipped onto its side. The A37 near Pylle is blocked between the turn off to Pylle and Platterwell Lane.

Pictures from the scene show a lorry flipped onto its side after crashing into the roadside hedges. An eyewitness told SomersetLive: “A37 in both directions blocked, delays due to accident near Hedge Lane.”.

The crash was first reported at 1.05pm by road and traffic monitoring site, Inrix. It said: “A37 in both directions blocked, delays due to accident between Bagborough turn off (Pylle) and Platterwell Lane (Cannards Grave).”

Avon and Somerset Police has been contacted for further information.
