Man dies in lorry crash on M50 near Tewkesbury

A man has been killed following a serious crash on the M50 which involved two lorries.[1] The M50 was closed for most of yesterday (Thursday, February 29), with motorists warned to avoid the area.

Emergency services were alerted to reports of a serious crash at 10.54am yesterday on the eastbound carriage of the M50 between junction 1 and 2 near Tewkesbury. Two paramedic officers, Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham rushed to the scene.

On arrival, crews found one of the lorry drivers, a man, in critical condition following the crash. Medics gave the man advanced life support, but despite their best efforts, he was confirmed dead at the scene.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that there were no other patients. At the time, police warned motorists of a serious crash between two lorries.

West Mercia Police later said: “Sadly, we can confirm that a man has died in the collision, and our officers are still in attendance with our emergency services colleagues and partner agencies.

“We apologise to those who have been stuck in their vehicles since this morning and appreciate your patience.” The road then reopened in full at around 8.20am on Friday.
