Pay tribute to Bradford’s Shahid Ali after fatal M62 crash

Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision, which happened on the eastbound carriageway close to junction 29, for Lofthouse, at around 3.30am yesterday.

West Yorkshire Police said the crash involved a white Audi A3 “travelling against the flow of traffic”[1] and a Renault HGV.

The male occupant of the Audi was confirmed dead at the scene a short time later.

Shahid, a 37-year-old from Bradford[2], was named locally[3] as the driver who was killed in the M62 crash.

The motorway was shut between junction 28, for Leeds, and junction 29 for most of the the day to allow collision investigation work to take place. It is now fully open again.
